Smart Cities & Environments

Smart environments are urban areas which blend physical spaces with digital ones to make buildings, public areas, and services more intuitive, responsive, and accessible to everyone.

The smart cities deploy the intelligent systems to serve a wide range of the city's development areas

Younite supports cities in their journey to becoming smart cities by developing advanced technology solutions that address critical urban challenges and enhance the quality of life for citizens and tourists. Through a combination of data-driven insights, AI, and spatial technologies, Younite provides tools that empower cities to operate more efficiently, sustainably, and inclusively. Here’s how Younite is contributing to the smart city transformation:

1. Data-Driven Urban Planning and Management

  • Photorealistic digital twin: Younite uses photorealistic digital twins to create real-time, data-rich virtual models of cities, which simulate urban environments for enhanced decision-making. These digital replicas allow city planners to monitor infrastructure, manage resources, and forecast the impact of new developments.

  • AI-Enhanced Data Insights: With Younite’s AI-driven analytics, city officials can gain actionable insights from complex data sets, helping them make informed decisions on traffic patterns, energy consumption, waste management, and more.

  • Predictive Analytics: Younite’s predictive tools help cities anticipate and prepare for future challenges, from managing crowd control during events to forecasting traffic flow changes and optimizing energy usage.

Benefits

  • Enhanced Urban Planning and Design

    • Visual realism

    • Accurate 3D representations of buildings, landscapes, and infrastructure

    • Scenario simulation

  • Enhanced Decision-Making with Realistic Data Vizualization

    • Data-driven insights

    • Photorealistic models help stakeholders and the public better undestand proposed projects

    • Risk mitigation

  • Training and Simulations for Urban Management

    • Realistic training environments

    • Safe scenario testing

  • Support for Sustainable and Resilient Cities

    • Environmental impact analysis, promoting sustainable practices

    • Simulations can alayze potential climate-related risks, like flooding

    • Carbon footprint reduction

2. Accessibility with XR environments and services

A photorealistic digital twin of a physical space can enhance accessibility, allowing people to visit, explore, and interact with the environment and its services remotely.

This virtual access breaks down barriers for those with mobility challenges or who are located far away, making the space more inclusive and user-friendly.

By incorporating virtual reality, we can also introduce innovative services and experiences that benefit a broader audience, expanding the potential uses and reach of the space.

Benefits

  • Accessibility Tools: Younite develops tools to make city spaces and services more accessible, such as AR-based navigation for individuals with disabilities or language barriers, ensuring that public spaces are inclusive for all residents.

  • Virtual City Tours: Using XR, Younite enables virtual tours that showcase city attractions and cultural landmarks, allowing cities to promote tourism and make cultural experiences accessible to all, including people with limited mobility.

  • Personalized Visitor Services: By analyzing visitor data and using AI to customize experiences, Younite helps cities provide tailored recommendations and services for tourists, enriching their stay and supporting local businesses.

3. Synthetic data creation for training AI

Synthetic data is artificially generated data that mimics real-world data, allowing AI systems to train and improve without relying solely on actual data providing safe and cost effective ways to create data to train AI models. Younite can simulate real-world conditions, events, and interactions as if they were happening in the physical world.

With a digital twin of a city or, for example, an airport, we can simulate thousands of scenarios with realistic data, accelerating AI training while minimizing costs and risks. For example, we can create material for the AI model to encounter diverse weather conditions, identify pedestrians, obey traffic signals, and handle unusual events like road construction or detours.

Benefits

  • Reduced Data Collection Costs

    • Synthetic data eliminates many of these costs by generating data programmatically

    • Since synthetic data is readily available, it enables faster model iteration and development

  • Simulating Complex and Dangerous Scenarios

    • Synthetic data can simulate potentially hazardous situations

    • Complex situations, making better preparation for unexpected conditions

Synthetic data creation provides a versatile, efficient, and safe way to train AI models, making it invaluable for a wide range of applications—from autonomous driving to healthcare and beyond. By overcoming the limitations of real-world data, synthetic data enables AI systems to become more accurate, fair, and prepared for real-world deployment.

City of Gothenburg

Younite, is the main developer in this project working together with the city and creating virtual Gothenburg using Digital Twin technologies and AI Avatars.

The tailored Digital Twin of the city allows people to plan the visits, familiarize themselves with locations, and experience the city via one’s own smart device, thus removing many of the physical and mental thresholds that prevent full participation in city life.
